Photo paddling kayak. That is Loreto along the shore and the Sierra de Gigante mountains in the background. You can see the "pointy" mountain that is a landmark west of Loreto.

Kayak paddling today. Went with a friend here in the RV park. He has two kayaks and I was able to use one. It was my first time paddling any distance in a single rather than double kayak. We left from Loreto Shores and paddled north past town keeping close to shore. I had not paddled since Octoboer 2011 so figured 4 hours would probably be plenty for me. We paddled for two hours, beached, stretched, snacked and then came back. It was fun and I was tired, a bit sore and hungry. Showered, fixed a sandwich and napped. After napping, dressed for town and went to a book signing and reading by author Bruce Berger: Oasis in Stone and others. It was an enjoyable event with dinner after at Bruno's (good pizza, pasta, and salads). I had a chicken salad with fresh strawberries, craisins and pecans. Will post any pictures I get from today at a later time.

Setting sun as seen along the highway. Here are a couple pictures taken with an iPhone while in a car riding south from Loreto. Would like to hear which one is your favorite.

Yay!!!! 49ers. And another cheer for being back online. My computer would not let me get to the web and just a bit ago I restored back to January 6th and it seems to be working fine. All fine here. Market day and Football day. I have not heard the outcome of the Ravens vs Patriots game. Warmer today. The cold wind finally died down. So, Good night all.

There were a couple tiny earthquake moments today. I felt my chair wiggle at the first one and was visiting a friend for second one. I was standing outside and didn't feel anything. She was sitting in a chair and did feel it. No damage and we are just fine. Bypassed the Sunday market today. Many people seem to be sick with flu or a bronchial cough and I opted to stay away from a crowd. Still have vegies from my purchases last week. Did go to the "Green store" (named for its painted front and not as an environmental reason) while I had the van out for some exercise and bought some soy milk, grape juice, oatmeal and bread. Picked up some mesquite-grilled chicken for lunch, watched football playoffs and joined friends for dinner at Orlando's. Orlando's had the 3 young guitarists playing and singing again tonight. They are quite talented. There were 3 reasons for the dinner: a birthday, people returning to Loreto after the Holidays up North, and people leaving Loreto for a couple months to return to the States. That's it for today.

Here are a couple pictures showing the Chilkat warp I have been thigh-spinning. So far have spun 18+ yards. These pictures show the warp in final stages after some trimming. I have it wet and stretched to set the spin.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Spent New Year's eve at pot luck dinner with friends in Loreto Bay, a community 5 miles or so south of town. Firecrackers in the neighborhood at midnight along with the music around the corner. Awakened early this morning before dawn and the music was still playing.
